Re: What’s up with this?

Looks like a big version of my Nordic Tug

Re: What’s up with this?

Someone with too much time on their hands.

Re: What’s up with this?

Only reason I can think of is heaven damage to the topsides.

Re: What’s up with this?

Not a Y/F but RPH / F.

Pancake 6-71Ns
Worst-or-broke gen-sets.

Interesting design.
I'm afraid a very (VERY) small market will look at here.
OTOH, P T Barnum was correct on some comments.

Re: What’s up with this?

Looks a bit like it miht have been a 48 LRC at one time

Re: What’s up with this?

The intersection of a crew boat and a Hatteras, at the least it's creative.

Re: What’s up with this?

Reminds me of a 58 YF I saw in BC last summer. I first saw it at a distance and went "cool, I'll go have a look at it.." once we finished getting settled docking. When I got close nothing looked right so I was puzzled. The next day the owner came by my boat just to see it and talk, once I got the conversation turned around to his boat he told me they'd bought an insurance total, apparently that boat was being trailered by a heavy haul outfit and they miscalculated an underpass clearance and tore the whole top off the thing right down to the main deck. That's why the upper works were different, essentially they were a single molded piece, every corner was faired by glass or filler and the house windows were all flush mounted.

Re: What’s up with this?

Not my cup of tea but looks like a decent effort. They should have gone a little further and repositioned those filters. WTF! Hard enough to keep things clean when changing them positioned the right way. I did eat a lot of crayons and pennies when I was little so maybe I'm missing something.

Re: What’s up with this?

Someone's Pride and joy, looks very well kept. for sure not what I would want. The forward bow seating looks like it is backwards but I can't tell you how many times I have stumbled on the edge of the bow seat on our 43dc when I have stood up to go back aft so maybe it makes sense to have it angled back like that. but it is some ugly IMHO

Re: What’s up with this?

Looks like an early 41 that had a cockpit extension def not the flair or bow of a 53

Re: What’s up with this?

Scott, if it's a 1966 it would have started life as as a 50, probably a MY not a Conv. Think the first 53's were 1971???

Mid 69 there were both 50 and 53 that year

Re: What’s up with this?

Kill it with fire. That thing puts the fug in fugly.

Re: What’s up with this?

The boat was built after a fire. It’s a 45’ hull that burned down to the deck . It was stretched 6’ with two 500 gallon tanks amidship. It was built as a long range cruiser before Hatteras built LRC’s.

45 + 6 is 53?

Is that meth math?

Free bird- you may need to go back to the drug rehab. The boat was built after a fire. It’s a 45’ hull that burned down to the deck . It was stretched 6’ with two 500 gallon tanks amidship. It was built as a long range cruiser before Hatteras built LRC’s.
Drug rehab?

I’m not the one who added 6 to 45 and came up with 53. Adding fuel capacity to a burned up, revamped Hatteras does not a LRC make. If it’s your boat, I’m sorry I insulted you. Otherwise, I’m just speaking the truth.

Oh yeah, it’s Freeebird. One word, three e’s, no waiting. :)

Hull # in USCG records is 44TC302 which would make it originally a 44 TCMY. They have it as a 1966 with an LOA of 51' with 14'6" beam.

Not mine. My Dad and his brother built it at their boatyard. He passed away a couple of years ago. It just caught me wrong. BTW I didn’t write the ad. The boat’s 51’. I’m well aware that it’s not a LRC. The guy they built it for wanted a 1500 mile range.
