So sick of broken promises. Keep signing up and then needing to cancel. Now it's hulu. Can't use a fire stick 10' from my house. WTF? Why can't I find a streaming service I can watch anywhere? I'm not cheap. I'll pay. I don't care that local channels will be local to where I am located.

At this point While not my nature I will be looking into what we used to call "steal per view" and get whatever I can find. Just sick of this crap.

Is my only choice satellite for boat and RV? Other than steal per view if I can find it?

We use Netflix, Amazon, Apple +.
All work except when you international you have to use a VPN to ping back through the USA.

The fire-stick has been working well for us.
Connects up to the boat network that uses one or two SIM cards.

I have satellite on the boat, but I also have an AppleTV box. The AppleTV will run any of those streaming services. At my home marina, it runs off of WiFi, but elsewhere I have to hotspot my phone to run it.

And which carrier do you have that doesn't yell at you and throttle you after 20GB of tethering? (Which is about 10 hours of watching.....)

Meanwhile I have ROKU TV's or sticks in house, boat and RV. Works like a charm.

YoutubeTV has live tv and allows you to move from marina to marina without hassle.

I had Hulu and it does not allow you to login from other IP addresses more than 4 times and each of those times is a hassle.

What do you mean by “ Can't use a fire stick 10' from my house.”? Are you saying the wifi is too weak or ???

We have two AppleTVs on the boat and it works great with a bunch of services and apps off a cellular modem / router. In most cases streaming from marina Wifi is painfully slow

Directtv has a streaming service that seems pretty good although I ve never used it.

I use fubo tv

What VPN did you use in the Bahamas ? Amazon seem to detect VPNs and not allow connection. I ve started using VPNexpress to watch America’s Cup but it doesn’t have a version for appleTV and can’t find one that does

We use a rural internet that travels with us. It is unlimited with no throttling and works on 4g network. We were coming back from key west and had data out 20 miles but no phone. Funny that phone over WiFi worked great. Traveling the entire east coast only a few places in nc with poor signal. Been using for over 2 years now.

We use a plan from unlimitedville.com. Works with a mofi4500 router and we can stream anything. Avg sped is 40mb. Router was about $400. There is an option to run external antennas but we have been fine with what the unit came with.

We then have a Kodi box and Apple TV.... oh and ooma telephone as well. This also ties into out alarm system.

as full time liveaboards this has worked flawlessly. Price for data is flat 89 a month.

Glad to help anyone with this.

It looks like their cheapest plan is through T-Mobile for $150 a month and a $250 one time fee. Your $89 deal must me grandfathered in.

Its a Verizon business account that we've had for 25years. Never had an issue streaming.

Using Surf Shark VPN. Amazon, no problem, PBS is good. I have had a few things not handle it.

Only issue is that when I have the VPN on- my Raymarine displays will not mirror:(

The firestick and IOS Surf Shark app is easy.
Not as crazy about running surf shark on the router but I have it setup that way too because it will not mess with the internal network.

I using an open router firmware that currently is setup to bond between MyIslandWifi (wifi repeater) and a Tethered Smart Phone. Also jump on wifi easily.

I have a spectrum streaming account that I use anywhere. I am limited to about 20-25 channels but it works very well. I stick with Netflix and Amazon for streaming service. I use Marina WiFi mostly but when traveling I have both a Verizon simm and a t-mobile set up like this

If you have a droid cell phone, install DEX on the phone and then project from the phone to a computer. For example, we were just on the RV in a state park that had poor cell service. I previously installed a Wilson Weboost on the RV. That took care of the reception issue. With Dex on the cell phone, I use something like Edge (or any other browser) to lite up the stream I am interested in. In this last case I was streaming MotoGP (when Marquez made a dramatic return to form). So I could watch the stream on the laptop.
It just so happens the TVs on the RV support screen sharing. So I opted to share the laptop screen with one of the TVs and voila, we had it all.
Since we have HDMI splitters, or drivers, one HDMI output (from a Wally for example) can drive all four TVs concurrently. I just bought an HDMI female/female connector so I can plug the feed into the splitter into the connector and then an HDMI cable from the laptop to the connector.

So, in short, consider using Dex on your android.

Warning, some apps will not work "under" Dex but usually this can be worked around.

We have verizon as well and by using Dex we avoid the tethering issue since the phone is doing all of the surfing, and streaming.

Apple. BUT..... have since discovered the HDMI dongle. In the iPad, cable to the TV. Watch Sling etc on the iPad, "Airplay" to TV. Appears not to be considered tethering.......

Airplay is ok but has its limitations. For starters, some streaming services dont let you airplay their content. Some times you can go around this using screen mirroring but sometimes it just doesn’t work or doesn’t play smoothly.

The best solution is to make a good hotspot or router connected to a cell modem and use an AppleTV or Amazon whatever it’s called.

I have tried screen mirroring but throwing the IPAD picture onto a 50" TV makes it blurry and unwatchable. I did look at youtube TV as recommended and unlike the other steaming systems they are very clear on restrictions on watching when away from your home. It seems like away from home but in my local area I will be good. Also they state that a show or sporting event you can not watch live (if I was say down in Fort Myers) well away from home I can record on DVD (virtual) and then watch once the program is no longer a live event. I can live with that. Already know Brady is going to get one more SB!:D:D:D
