What is really needed in an inverter?

Careful with the inverters pas through mode. It may not pass 30+ amps.

That's one reason I don't like some of the magnums

You got my attention on this. The last thing I want is to create a problem. Will I ever need over30a with 30 amp service?
Your one reason reference has me wondering, any other reasons?
Any inverters in the 2000 to 3000 you've had better experience with?
