Westerbeke Governor

Attention on deck!!!

I need a governor for the Westerbeke generator on my 41DC. I've run out of things to test as to why it overspeeds and then shuts itself off. Now I just need some input as to where I can go to find the best price on a governor without surfing the net and hoping for the best. Last time I needed one of these things, I needed it fast and paid dearly for it at a local dealer. Next time ya'll complain about Worst Marine or the like, remember when we didn't have any choice but to buy everything from dealers or God forbid, marinas!

Truth is, I kinda forgot about it until I took that trip down "The Gorge" this past week-end. You don't think much about running your generator when you're using your boat as a floating condo. I know, I know, I run and load mine regularly even when I'm parked for extended periods. Didn't really miss it though until the first night when we ran for a little while after dark. Would have been nice to have had some heat for that short period as it was cccold outside!

Hate to be stupid, but I don't remember the model designation. It's a 7kw gas unit, and it's red!

Thanks for the reply and the offer. I'll check to see the model number and get back to you if you think your's will work. How many hours on your broken one? They're really not all that expensive, but I wouldn't mind saving a buck on a low hour used one.

Its a diesel so I dont think the govenor would work. Its shot ( PO let water get in the cylinders) but good parts here and there so I figured I could tear it down and clear up the space in the garage.

Yeah, when I saw the 8BTD, I figured it was a Blown Torndown Diesel! Thanks for the offer though, I appreciate it.

Looks like there is a good fuel pump. The head seems solid. other parts like pumps and heat exchanger seem fine. Ifanyone needs parts call soI can clean out the garage.

I need a 12VDC lift pump for the fuel side. Is that a 3 banger?? My 20 kw is a 4 with a datsun 2.2 --I may need an injector pump too. ws
