Well priced Marinas in Puerto Rico????

We're still traveling around Canadian Maritimes in our RV but hope weather cools so we can take Bout Time to Florida in Late October.

Thinking about Puerto Rico as a new base of operations. We will fly down sometime in January and if we like it will likely move the boat in spring. Anyone have any recommendations , would prefer to be on the south or east coast. Looking for long term lease as opposed to daily rates!

Know the Jib Room well and have played the Rake and Scrape saw there several times on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I like the Abacos however it is just a little too cool there for this Texas boys bones in January and February. Will probably pass thru there on my way to Puerto Rico, assuming we go probably in April. Spent most of this past April there. Do like it but have to say its not my favorite harbor in the Bahamas although from a provisioning standpoint it is the best.

If I was making my last provisioning stop in the Bahamas I would do so in Spanish Wells, Eleuthera. My last visit to Marsh Harbour was about two years ago. Our favorite supermarket had burned down with no rebuild in sight. That left a choice of only one other. I would stock up on liquor while there, however.

The Emerald Bay resort, near Georgtown, Great Exuma I., had a pretty nice supermarket, too.

I keep my 41 conv. at Puerto del Rey on the East coast that's about $15.60/ft. for a long term. Great services and protection. There are several over there around Fajardo and they are all good. I was at Puerto Chico for about 3 years and it is good. It was about $13/ft. That is with electric, water and basic cable. All of these marinas on the East side have quick access to small islands for a day outing and within 15 to 20 miles to Culebra and to the South to Vieques. St. Thomas is only about 50 miles and is the gateway to the US and British Virgin Islands.

What part of Texas? I retired from Houston and have lived here for the last 8 1/2 years.

This was may area when I worked at Hatteras. Lots of good marinas and you can get service from most of them. Port Del Ray has the best service from a guy there by the name of Erick Ramos 787-399-8977 tell him I sent you there. The Hatteras dealer for the area is Agie Vincenta 787-405-1377 he will be a great help to you. Tell him that you know me and he will help you find the best prices. He is Mr. Hatteras down there. If you get in the area and need anything call me I know more people in the area than I do in NC.

There is a new supermarket just up the street from the one that burned called Maxwells and just on the outskirts of town there is a mini Cosco type operation but strickly groceries.

Yes emald bay has a grocery, but we shopped mostly at Exuma Market in Georgetown as that is where we were anchored. Don't much chare for the Emerald Bay Marina as it is subject to surge in any easterly component of wind. Spanish Well is a great place to provision and I really like it there however, as you know,it is dry so you have to cross to Northern Exuma for Liquor. I really like Dunmore Town as well.

When you say you live "HERE" I take it to mean Puerto Rico. We are from Port Aransas, on Mustang Island near Corpus Christi. Have been out cruising for most of the last 3 1/2 years. If by HERE you mean PR it must mean that you like it. $15.50 is a little expensive , but if that includes electricity its not to bad. We've been told its hard to get into a marina on the east coast , which is where we would prefer to be for all the reasons you listed.

Probably due to cost we will have to opt for the South Coast.

How are other living expenses , expect you have to get a PR cell phone etc.

Thanks Roger, as mentioned we will head down to PR sometime in January and plan to spend several weeks to be sure we really like it and to check out Marina availability prices etc. At some point in early spring we will take the boat there. Probably dropping down thru the Bahamas to visit friends before heading for the DR and PR. Any help or advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

They opened the new supermarket Maxwells a few months ago. It's huge and even has a pet isle and organic isle! A deli too! Its right down the street from the old one =)

Nice!! Stephen is my better half =) Defiantly come rake and scrape with us on your way! I do have to agree...last January was a lil chilly! Yes 55 degrees is chilly to us Southerners!

Sure will, what is the name of your boat. Just ask the guys about Runaground Ron on Bout Time Tx. Which is what I have to call my boat down there cause their's three boats with the similar names. Partied with Ron and Susie on Reel Estate one night . Great boat.
