Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
I have the Hatteras OEM weatherboards around the aft deck of my 1979 43DCMY. Does anyone know who manufacturers this product and where it can be obtained? Thanks!

Good post, I was curious how they make those rounded corner pieces?? Thanks

You might check with Sam's Marine. I had to replace one of the corner skirt boards on my aft deck of my 53my, and Sam's had the unfinished section in stock.

I replaced My weather boards with 1/8in. white fiberglass panels. I also installed paneling around the fly bridge. I was going to use Star board but I couldn't find anyone that wanted to sell me any. The dealer kept giving me the run around. So I welded up aluminum frames and attached the fiberglass panels to the frames to stiffen the panels. Then screwed the panels to the stanchions using the same holes where I could adding a few. I like it and it is easy to replace should someone or something destroys it. My boat did not have any weather boards when I got it. I also added swing open doors to prevent things from falling over board.

I was told by Sam's to go to Home Depot and buy the 1/8 " veneer and use a heat gun to bend it to shape then paint it. Think a corner piece is about $200 each.
I haven't done it yet but do need to replace both corner panals....

Those corner pieces are pricey for sure.

However, I do not think the hardware store sells anything suitable for this application, especially a veneer.

Instead, purchase a piece of PVC board. It is a closed cell foam with a thin layer of pvc material on either side. It is durable and can be painted.

Buy 1/4 " sheet.........comes in 4X8 sheets.

Now when you look at that corner , you may be thinking it is some sort of compound angle, but it is nothing more than a 90 degree bend eith about a 4" radius.

It is "tilted" inward, giving the appearance of something complicated.

This pvc board is lightweight, can be patched and repaired if damaged.

I use starboard, 3/4 , and center cut a dado on either side of a 2" wide strip to accept the 1/4 inch pvc.

This " H " channel is great for joining two sections of PVC or other weather boards.......sometime called dodger boards.

Thru bolt the pvc, or other material when joining with the above mentioned "H" channel.

One other note...........

Bend it with a cheap old wagnor heat gun. ( these are much better than the 80 buck heat guns in tool stores. ) :D
