Anybody on the forum have any experience with this product or have one installed? Basically a flowmeter for your potable system with a remote read out....Thx.

I looked at it and talked to the inventors wife at the boat show. She said her husband made it for her galley. Its a pretty neat gadget, but a little pricey for me. I'll just watch my gauge.

Somebody posted that before in a thread about tank gauges. As I remember, they liked it.

The setup looks pretty interesting and might be a lot cheaper than a traditional tank level system (assuming it works). The guage looks a little too "electronic" for the Admiral's taste. I wonder if a different guage can be adopted to this system?

We have one that we bought at the Miami Boat Show. The Tank Tender water gauge that came with the boat doesn't work worth a hoot, in large part because the aft tank feeds the keel tank and also because, well, it doesn't work worth a hoot.

We have been very happy with the Water Counter. We spend a lot of time on the hook or moored. It helps us understand what different chores or appliances (dishwasher, clothes washer) really use. You can manage consumption very closely. It has an odometer cumulative meter right on the measuring unit; very "industrial". We actually have not got around to hooking up the LED counter, since I log the cume reading everyday while I am in the engine room anyway. I'll get "around to it" sometime, I suppose.

Regardless, one of the better gadgets we've got. Nice folks, too.

Thanks George, I've got cascading tanks as well. On top of that the P/O ran some sanitiation hose over the acess plate to one of the tanks. Real PITA to try and read, even if it did work. So this sounds like a good solution for us. Thanks for the feedback.

The specs for the watercounter state: "min. flow required....1 qt. per minute". I just ran out of water on my second night at anchor with 5 people aboard. We used 135 gal in 36 hrs. The next 36 hours we used only 17 gal. I suspect that someone turned off the swim step shower at the head and not with the values. Or I have a slow water leak somewhere.

Is it possible for a slow leak to not be detected by this meter?

Re: "Watercounter" (and slow leaks.)

Just call Furman Combs and ask. He's a good guy. 912 898 8344.

I like mine better. See below picture. Only $35, plus 2 hose barbs from Ace Hardware ($4 ea). I got it here http://www.allergybegone.com/flowpro-fpdm-200-digital-flow-meter.html

It is designed to handle flow through for up to 5 water filter cartridges and total system flow, so you just set all 5 cart capacities to the max (19,000 gal) so they don't show on the display. Then when you push the "display" button, it shows the total number of gallons used. When you refill your tank, push the "reset" button and it starts counting from zero again. I don't need another hole cut for a display in my cabinetry anyhow, so I don't mind going into the engine room to see how much water is left in my tanks.

I measured the metering by this one, and it was really very accurate, adding one gal at each gallon used and measured via magnetic coupled turbine metering.

Looks like a good catch Doug; you're basically using it the same way I use my Watercounter. I do think a lot of Admirals (like mine) would prefer the count down remote display, but for another 250 bucks?
