to all veterans, thank you for your service to the country! to the familys of our fallen and wounded ,your pain and sacrifice is greatly appreciated . may the rest of us be worthy. thank a veteran for the life we enjoy.

I'd like to extend my sincere thanks to all of you who've served in our military, for all you've given and all your families have sacrificed.

I am the son of a WWII veteran who spent 21 years serving our country in the Navy and he instilled in me a passionate belief in the best America has to give and has given to the world. I am proud to be an American.

He passed 2 years ago now at the age of 80 and I miss him every day.

Happy veterans day, and thank you.

I too say "THANK YOU" to all vets on this day and every day!

My father was also a WWII Navy vet who taught me the value of freedom, respect, authority and love. He was killed last year at the age of 81 flying poor people across the country for free medical care al at his own expense. He was not unlike many vets of that error, giving to the very end of their lives.

God bless you all!!!

Fortunately, my dad is still around at 93 - a US Army 3 war combat vet of WWII, Korea, Vietnam. Shot at in all three wars, shot at and hit in two of them. They don't make 'em like that generation nowadays! ;)

He still goes out a few times a week and does the grocery shopping though my mom (92) complains that he buys too much junk food and "someday it will kill him!" :)

Thanks from all of my family!

Remembrance Day

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Liet. -Col. John McCrae

Here's my dad/mom (and me/wife) at the WWII memorial in DC on Vets day a couple of years ago . Yeah, I'm wearing a vet hat too but the REAL VETERAN is on the right! Yes, they used to be taller. :(

just want to say thanks to all of my fellow veterans --Robby and I both spent almost 21 years in the Airforce and I dont regreat a day of it, in fact I even miss it at times

I figured it only fair to post a pic of me when I was young and foolish. I was 22 when this was taken and I seem to be doing a bad James Dean impression.

My platoon was doing a one week security detail at the Song Be bridge, to be sure the bad guys didn't blow it up. They eventually did but not on my watch. Whew! It was a good detail because instead of humping the boonies we actually got to sit around and the supply chopper brought out a few beers...

But a week later...back to the woods.

Here's another vet. My son just returned from his 4th deployment in the war zone. He has 1200 combat mission hours. He flies the E8 JSTARS I flew out to meet up with him at Nellis AFB in Nevada. He will be headed back over for his 5th in Jan. If you think we give the military the best equiptment check out the state of the art cockpit. He brings his own GPS

That's funny, cut the number of engine monitoring instruments and replace the yoke with the appropriate flight controls and the instrumentation looks pretty much like a UH1-H Army helicopter circa 1970.

(After my infantry tour in '68 I went to flight school than back to Vietnam flying choppers - rated in Hueys, Cobras, Loaches [Hughes 500] and Jetrangers.)

God Bless all of our veterans. And Linda and I thank all of you.

My Father was in the Army, My uncle was in the Battle of the bulge and Linda's Father flew Corsair's off of the Leyte. Great people.

Our thanks and blessings to all who have served and all that are serving. I served in Nam, and consider myself a lucky one for surviving, and try to say a prayer often for the less fortuneate that have sacrificed so much more than I have.

God bless you people, and God bless America.
