Unexpected re-launch

I just watched it a couple times, but it looked to me like the sling broke. You can see it break and then here the big BANG...the delay due to the cameraman's distance.

Take another look. at the very end you see both slings still intact. Also the camera is not far enough away for that much of an audio delay.

sling didn't break, you can see that the forward crane lowered the load a little, just enough for the boat to slide forward.

Ok, I see what you are talking about now. I thought I saw the front sling "pop"/break, but that was just something else banging....epic fail!

Hard to say what really happened but you can bet there will be lots of lawyers and insurance adjusters analyzing that video over and over.

It looks like the boat spun in the wind and they set the stern on the rail of the ship. the bow kept going down and it slid out of the stern strap first and then slid out of the bow strap. The bang was when it hit the ship?

Great observation! I never noticed that before. It does look like the stern was set on the ship. That explains why the camera panned right to try and get a shot of it. He then pans back trying to follow the boat as it falls out of the slings. Most likely the captain or an agent of the doomed boats owner. I don't think it was the wind that caused to mishap. Would take a lot of wind to twist her that much and you would hear it on the tape.
