Under water lights

I bought 8 lead surface mount lights. I love it. one went out, $50 replace it.

I have Lumishores, three on the transom of a 60C.
It seems everyone in my marina has underwater lights, on those summer evenings when every boat has their underwater lights turned on every kid on my dock has a bait in the water behind my boat.
That says more about how bright my lights are than anything else could.

2 Lumitec’s installed by PO circa 2012. They draw about 10 amps off the 12V bank and it is a long run from the generator room, so I am thinking of changing them over to the 24V inverter bank which will cut the run in half and I won’t worry as much about drawing down my electronics bank.

I confess that I bought our lights after my then 6 year old asked why we couldn't have a cool boat like the 2 bayliners, and the one sea ray that had lights in that particular marina.
I guess that is sort of peer pressure. The kids love the lights.

Many of these lights have a driver that specs input voltage of 9-32v. Has anyone tried to run these at 32v? I know a 32v system will produce voltage higher than 32v so that may not be a good idea. But, if they need to be at the upper level of the input voltage, maybe 32v is the answer.

I called lumitec prior to install and they say we are out of spec with out 32v system b/c voltages could be much higher than 32v. They suggested I run the lights in series (banks of 2) effectively cutting the voltage in half.

Currently I have 3 banks of 2 lights each ran in series. Works great until the lights start to die. Pretty sure if one in the series dies it takes the other with it.

My installer said voltage was critical, and stepped down our 32v to 24 volt to stay in upper range. He added a breaker on my 32v panel in the eng room. No issues.

I just installed the lumitec seablaze typhoon. This light are awesome!!! The one previous seablaze x. The difference is like from day to night.

The only thing is the hole in the transom is 3 inch diameter.

The Typhoon is a $1000 light compared to Seablaze X at $500.
Has anyone tried the new Seablaze X2's yet?

I can see where price can become an issue ..
