Ugly cables running across the deck

Has anyone built a 'gutter' or some sort of channel to hold their power, TV, water lines? I think they look sorta tacky laying on the deck. Trying to think of ways to clean it up.... Thanks for your ideas Rick

What about buying some hooks (J style) and mounting them to the inside hull side. you can then lay the cables in the hooks.

I use heavy Velcro straps to hold the cables together and hang them from the wire rope halfway down from the hand rails. Works for us.

Look at the "zip sleeve powercord organizer" at the West Marine website. You can bundle all your cords together, and each unit is 25' long.

I use 2 of the zip sleeves from West. I like them. I bought them on sale for $11. bucks. It keep the cables up off the deck and together. Really cleans the deck up. ORGANIZED. I have all my cables inside them including 2- 30 amp power, 1- 5/8 water hose, 1- TV coax. I don't think you could get anymore in the sleeve. They are velcroed to the safety cable. They are not very strong my first set ripped the cloth along the zipper. My next set will be made by my canvas maker. Or my admiral out of simbrella and heavy zippers.

I usually just run my cords along the dock instead of on the deck. Of course, this is not always possible. A lot depends on the distance to the shore stand and the length of your cords.

The best closeup of the zip sleeve had Patch in the picture...

He was four months old there but has now grown into his legs. Not going to say he's the most gorgeous Maltepoo on the planet, but a very good boy and boat dog.

I have the sleeves from West Marine on my Hat as well, but found the little velcro straps useless. If you want to leave the dock for a cruise, which we do often, it is a hassle to unhook all those "hold-down-straps" (or hold-up straps?). I am tempted to cut off all those straps to get a cleaner look.

By the way, 2 of my 4 sleeves bleached out quickly, while the other two looked good for over a year. What's with that?

Norm I think they are cheaply made. Mine ripped along the zipper after the second month of use. West replaced it for free. It has not ripped since. I leave mine hanging on the rail and wrap the loose ends around my deck box and secure it.

PS But i don't want you to think Maltepoos are ready to strike out on their own and live in the jungle on wild animals. They're sissy dogs but we think they're great (we have two). I cling to my masculinity with my young GF of nine years! You all would like her!

PPS The quality of the manufacture of the zip sleeves is not the best, but our zippers have been fine. The velcro straps are marginal...we re-sew them from time to time.

i run the shore power/phone aft along the side of the deck, hanging off the stanchions. i prefer to keep them low, less obvious than on the life line in my opinion. disconnecting takes just minute as it all stays in place and i just roll up the last 12' and hang it off the rail on the aft deck
