Anyone know how to ID a turbo? Don't see a data tag on either turbo, the engines are Covington 671TI's 410 horse and the oil seals are failing causing lots of smoke. In need of a replacement or rebuild. The compressor housings have Garrett M24 AR .96 cast in them but don't think tells the whole story. Any help is appreciated!

How about motor serial number? WW Williams matched mine up.

most likely a 5103838

Thanks for the advice, will check out the engine serial number next time I'm at the boat and see if it matches up with this part number!

I have 671TIs and the tag is on the aft side center housing.
tv8301 8924254 Detroit Diesel part number.

Avenger on this forum can probably help you once you have the part number

Turns out they were R5103838 on both motors. Since both are Detroit remans, does the "R" stand for remanufactured? The port turbo was leaking the most oil internally, however, looked almost new from the outside. After only 40 miles of running since cleaning the intercooler piping and intercooler, both were very oily. Is there a better brand of rebuild or should we replace with another Detroit?

Thanks again for everyone's advice!

Get them to avenger.

He's honest and will make them right if they're rebuildable. If they're not he'll tell you why and get you set up with the right ones.
