  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
54' MOTOR YACHT (1985 - 1988)
We're tied up at Isle of Hope marina in Savannah, waiting for Irene to pass. To those who have asked, thanks for the concern. Unless Irene does something really crazy, she should pass us by with minimal impact. There's another HAT on the dock here named BIG WAVE. Looks like a 61 foot motor yacht, but haven't seen the owner. To those of you north of us, best of luck to you over the next few days.

Glad you are safe Bill...

Does Big Wave have a cockpit ?

If so...The former owners were customers of mine when the boat was here in St Pete several years ago...Big Wave (that I know) was a busy boat with full time captain...Used her for corporate entertainment, and she also made a trip from here to the Bahamas every year for the summer...Good thing she's not there now ;)

They moved up from that boat to a 98' Burger that they re-named Think Big...

Always curious where boats I have worked on have ended up

Steve:

BIG WAVE does have a cockpit. I haven't been on her, but she appears to be in great shape

Bill,
We are also in the Savannah area. We have Beach Nut at Ft. McAllister marina. That's just south of Richmond Hill. It's up the Ogeechee River. We are thinking of leaving her here for the month of Sept. and spending time at Mexico Beach in Florida. When did you get to Isle of Hope?

"As of 11am", we have only had a bit of wind and no rain...... But forecast is for some later this afternoon into early evening... Did have a bit higher tide last night than usual but they say tonight and tomorrow morining is when the tides will be highest, but only 1-3"
Wishing only good luck to those of you "up north"...

Bill, Sure wish I were tucked up in Savannah. Spent yesterday taking all canvas off, removing cushions, fenders, etc off the Taylor G before haul out at Town Creek Marina in Beaufort, NC. It was too late to run somewhere so I did the next best thing -stripped off anything that could be torn off and hauled out. Fate of the Taylor G is now up to the Storm Gods!!! :(

If all goes well I will drive from Raleigh with my wife next Friday, put everything back in place and go out to Cape Lookout for Labor Day weekend.:) Mel Tucker

Mel take good care of her. be careful and stay safe. This one looks like a cross between Gloria in 1985 and the great hurricane of 38. Either way it's not to be taken lightly.

Capt Buddy:

We arrived at IOH this past Tuesday. We'll leave next week Tuesday to get to Jacksonville for Labor Day. If you want to stop by tomorrow we would be glad to provide an adult beverage. Just give me a call to be sure we will be on the boat. 763-229-4519.

Bill

We truly hope everyone stays safe and sound during this strom. Our prayers are with you.

Bill,
We were only in Savannah to move the boat to the other side of the Marina. We had to go to Perry Ga. to attend a funeral on Sat. We left Sunday heading to Mexico Beach by vehicle. Will be staying in Mexico Bch for the month of Sept. before heading back south towards the Keys. Msybe we will run into you somewhere on the water.
