Roumoer has it that a white water hose will produce green cabage inside while a colored one will not.
The white one looks clean on the dock but mine makes green junk have to clean the inside out with clorox. I thought it was the well water for years till this weekend. WHATS UP?

I always mounted a whole house filter on the connector that attached to the supply fitting. The hose ran from the inlet side of the filter to the shore side supply. When we moved, before I reconnected the hose I always blew it out with water prior to connecting it to the filter.

The sun beats through the white hose and causes algea to grow. The colored hoses slow that processs quite a bit.

The white drinking hose is lined with ? The white hose does not smell like rotten eggs each time you turn on the faucet like the colored hoses do. They are lined with rubber. I change out the inline filters once a year.

White should be for potable water. Other colors usually not.

I'd risk some algae to avoid lead and other chemicals.

I have a culligan water softner and a whole house filter the algie is growing in the darn hose. I changed to gray hose this weekend we will see.
The algie gets in the water lines on the boat and stops up the showers and spickets tares my wife up.

Mine creates a red goo that clogs the screens on my faucets and has a minty kinda smell. Now I drain the hose when I leave and flush before reconnect.

I've never heard of water that bad. You should install a reverse osmosis unit for the whole boat. I've used the same white hose for 15 years and it only has a super thin film on the inside walls.

You need more chlorine in the water.

well water at the beach dirty and very cheap as town water is expensive

Agree with the above. Had the same problem with the white potable water hose. Walmart is selling the blue potable water hose. 3 month now with no problems. Will see how the summer months go.

Man that IS bad water. I have pretty good water (and firehose pressure). But after looking at filter installed on the boat, I've been bumping up the chlorine from the 'city water' just a bit. I use a white hose and have never seen anything other than clear water coming out. Hose stays full of water all the time, and I've always just pulled from the internal boat water. Think maybe it's time get used to pre-filtering at the dock. That'll at least create a good habit for when I'm cruising.

I used to be the Scotsman Ice Machine distributor for my area. Poor water was the major problem. Commercial users understood this and were generally proactive. Residential users always claimed their homes' water was not the problem. "How about take the lid off your toilet tank and let me know what you see," usually won the point.
