Traveling through Destin by car Saturday or Sunday

We will be taking a road trip past Destin on Sat or Sun be in town around 10:00-12:00 noon. Looking for a good place stretch legs grab a bite and chill out.

Headed through in which direction? If you're passing through headed west, I'd keep on going and stop at the restaurant next to the aquarium thingy on 98. It's easy to spot as there's a crashed airplane out front. Nice beach too. Maybe somebody can remember the name of the place, but I've never been impressed by any of the restaurants in Destin even though there are a ton of them around the marina in town at the inlet.

What sort of food 'ya looking for? If a local Irish pub-style place will do the job, McGuires. Right at the foot of the Destin Bridge, north side. Local craft-brewed beer (brewed on-site, and it's good) tops the menu.

If you're looking for something in particular (type of food) let me know and I'll make some more recommendations. Note that most of the "seafood places" are touristy and overpriced for what you get. They may well be good (e.g. Fudpuckers) but they're still tourista trapistas.

Red neckish? Never seen that as two words before.

Karl, you should remember the name of the place I was talking about as that's where you and I met up with Benjy and his wife a couple of years ago. Greg aka Travler45C was there too, but I think he showed up after you left.

Gary, if you want redneckish (note proper spelling) and are headed to/through Pensacola, check out Joe Patty's restaurant next to his fish market. It's good/cheap seafood and not at all a tourist trap.
