My friends and I are a colorful lot. Being born and raised in Miami, I can surely vouch for each and every recommended item on this list to make your stay over the water, in the water, and under the water as enjoyable as possible.

1) Cool, recognizable flags. Note some cellular service is not always available so your friends need to know how to find you. In fact, cellular phones don't look as cool in your hand as an ice cold margarita, or a hot friend on your lap.

2) Water Water Water!!!

3) Ice Ice Ice!!

4) Kittens (not for the obvious reasons, there are no rats in Elliott Key and you're not allowed to bring rats) -- By kittens, we mean babes. Friends that are available to help you navigate, help with fenders, preparing cocktails, general cleanup, and lifelong memories. Refer to #10 below.

5) Powerful water guns and a functioning dinghy. You can't have one without the other.

6) Rum!! Tequila!! Sangria!! Beer!! Beer!! Beer!! Champagne to woo the cool babes ... and more Rum so everyone looks like a babe. Construct a wearable flask to free your hands for the watergun fights. This will free your hands to ensure the safety of the babes on the dinghy.

7) Paper plates, plastic utensils -- this is connected to #2 above. Save that water for showers with cool babes.

8) And for last ... batteries, C-2 Extinguishers, flashlights, duct tape, bleach, canned foods, powdered milk. Not for hurricane provisions but, rather, batteries for the toys, C-2 Extinguishers for jealous girlfriends, flashlights for party effects, duct tape (use as you see fit), bleach for removing evidence, canned food for stamina, powdered milk for the kittens. Hey, it's a long weekend.

9) Camera -- better yet, if you can install a webcam between now and then ... do it!! You'll be the instant envy of everyone back home. Reality TV with no commercial interruptions.

10) Back to the babes --- Need some? I have friends that are looking to go but need a bunk. If any of you can provide a small space for featured kittens in the attached photos, please let Pascal know. He is upset that there is no room below.

Inquiries are welcome as well as added suggestions to the list above. And REMEMBER, what happens at CDR stays at CDR, unless you leave with a scar.

Naomi

PS -- Photos of CDR homeless kittens are attached.

Do you realize that these pictures are going to cause some serious problems for some of the married men who have been working for months on obtaining permission from their wifes ???

water... yeah, I never knew we could go thru 250 gallons of water in 2 days until last year... but will not store jugs on deck like a ragboter ! I might consider the plastic plates and utensil...

ice... i think Angela just got a new ice maker... maybe i need to fix mine.. although it's just as easy to store ice in the freezer...

That's a great list Naomi - hatts off to you!

With a full 53MY load of kittens (I assume that's Pascal and five kittens, including you), where are you going to store all those barrels of fresh water? LOL Unless he built a watermaker, he'll never make it through the weekend without seeing the bottom of an empty water tank or two. LOL

Ed...get busy working on a flag for us - maybe Aida or Buddy has one we can use. We can secure it to the SSB antennae. I don't have anything unique, except for a large "M GO BLUE" banner which would be an embarrassment at this point.

I just installed a new ice maker over the weekend - IT WAS A NECESSITY! I do need to restock the bar now.

This is MY vacation - my time with my boat! So I don't plan to do fancy, time-consuming meals, and believe it or not....yes....PAPER/PLASTIC PLATES and PLASTIC UTENSILS! YIKES! Less time washing dishes, more time for mojitos! But, I am going to do a lot of ahead of time prep so we still have good eats! And NO FOOTBALL this time - my team suck big bananas this year anyway so it will be painless to miss the game.

That's a great list, Naomi, and I intend to fully comply with every item, except that I don't need babes/kittens, so I'll pass on those items. :D

We'll be putting up the webcam again, but last year cell phone service was poor. A friend of mine just came back from Eliott Key and said he never lost his Verizon signal the whole weekend, so there is hope that the service has improved. We'll see.

Angela,

When I first met you, one of the unique characteristics of Sanctuary were the variety of herbs growing in containers at the bow. What happened to those? Can you please grow some mint for the mojitos, and basil for the Pesto Garlic Cheesy Bread? 17 days left!

I am actively playing Fantasy 5 and Lotto... If I win, everybody wins, I'm chartering your boat and services for the trip...I'll hire crew for you so you can still be on vacation.

Deal?

PS -- Pesto Garlic Cheesy Bread -- Pesto, garlic and Parmesan cheese make a crusty piece of bread a special hot appetizer with rum punches, Cuba libres or mojitos, or for dinner accompaniments on the aft deck.

Ingredients: 4 tablespoons pesto / 1/2 teaspoon salt / 1 teaspoon garlic or garlic powder / 4 slices bread / 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese Red pepper (huge source of Vitamin A, optional)

Method: Mix pesto, salt and garlic in a bowl. Spread mixture over bread. Sprinkle cheese over bread. Add red pepper if you want to eliminate that hangover feeling and spice it up. Put in oven or toaster oven for 6 minutes at 250 degrees. Remove and cut into squares.

The first words out of Pascal's mouth when you and he pulled up next to us in the bay were comments making fun of my herbs on the bow, remember? LOL ...as he shouted them from his flybridge...and later wanted some fresh basil for his pasta! LOL

Anyway...that's not whey they're not there now. They eventually overgrew the container and matured to a point of going to seed - they were done at that point, and I have not replaced them. I will get the containers out of the bilge and replant them this weekend...how's that? This time I'll have mint in the mix, but in the meantime, better bring some back up mint for those mojitos. They have become my summertime favorite - so refreshing, yet so dangerous, but not as dangerous as tequila - tequila makes my clothes fall off which is why I don't drink it. LOL

"Do you realize that these pictures are going to cause some serious problems for some of the married men who have been working for months on obtaining permission from their wifes ???" THANKS PASCAL.....

This is one of the few things I miss from when I lived in S. Florida...... But my problem was, stay where I was born and be forced to learn Spanish or go where my job was moved to and learn "Redneck".............

Ang,
Look at the bright side of football, "your blue team" did manage to beat the absolute worst college football team last week for it's first win.

You gotta quit asking for permission and start thinkin' about asking for forgiveness. There are many more things you'll get forgiveness for that you would have never been granted permission. :D

There is a liveaboard bachelor here in the Hampton Public marina who is looking for 'crew' to help bring his 43 south. Volunteers?

Bob

Hmmmm, down in the bilge area and with lights. Ang are you sure those are herbs to eat, or are they for smoking? I will miss you guys this year, but my son will go if he can and if the weather is nice. Isn't the weather always beautiful for the CDR?

Definitely herbs for eating! The containers are empty, so I was storing them in an empty compartment, aft, where exhaust tubes run.

I sure hope the weather is nice. I look forward to this all year long, from the moment we pull up our anchor to come home....I start counting the days until next time.
