Hatteras Model
Not Currently A Hatteras Owner
Second meeting with Cocoa Beach, Merritt Island forum members saturday,
all had a great time. We met up friday evening for some very interesting adventures. Wild Bill was the star with his side kick Bird.

Saturday I decided i could not waite to try to repair the engine i had trouble with so i proceeded to get bussy found i had a nasty vacuum leak with the carb on port engine which never ran as well as the starboard one. Problem was getting worse so i spent some time fiddling with the carb and noted a fairly large amount of air sucking into mounting plate. Got Scott(Boatsb) aboard who agreed that it was a leaky gasket and he was sure he had the replacements with him eventhough his has 853's. Took us a few tries to get it right but finaly got it within 1 hour of the departure time for the light parade. Many thanks to scott and his 2 supervisors Wild Bill and his Bird for jumping in and getting things repaired.

454 / 853 sounds similar so some parts must be interchangable.

Great time with the mini Hatteras roundevous. We need to get some more owners for next years parade even if they come without boats. We all will make extra room for our brothers.

FWIW the in person part is what makes this typing worth while.

Yup, you have to look after that kind of stuff. I have read all kinds of horrible fuel,(gas), consumption figures on this site. I know our Crusaders are set up correctly and our gas usage is a bunch less than others here are reporting. I am sure those folks have problems similar to the ones mentioned above. Our engines don't use any more than comparable diesels except at speeds below 10 knots.
