  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' EXTENDED DECKHOUSE (1983 - 1988)
Waiting for this epic snow to happen here in the Mid Atlantic.

Feeling that restless feeling about wanting to get out on the water again.

Kicking myself for not getting out more when we had those decent days in December!

They were running the bubblers at the marina yesterday.

How do you all handle the Winter Itch?

Is starting to get bad and it's only January!

I understand your pain. CURE IS TOUGF. I look for projects in side the boat they may not need to be done. But you stay warm. I am installing new headliner in the state rooms along with new updated lighting. It is not what i really want to do but it gets me to the boat with a project. Also i get to watch ACC football and basket ball by myself. Yell cuss and have a small amount of crown apple with out the wife calling me down. pulling for the incorrect team. If i do not pull for her team i get greef.

I feel your pain as we've already dealt with round one of snow this week and dealing with round two as of today. No snow or ice yet, but it's coming.

My son has been sick since I got him back last Friday, and we haven't left the house this week beyond my making a grocery run before that first snow hit. Luckily I live on the lake, so I can at least see the water which keeps my cabin fever in check.

Good ideas- I think I need to get involved in a boat project(s), buckle down and get that leak addressed, and work on some other things on my list. I'm going nuts here.

Yeah really !!! its almost like we were cheating. I had to keep pinching myself, am I really swimming in January? I couldnt deal with the cold up North. In NC its not too bad. The sundeck warms up a little so I can enjoy sitting out there. I cant really get motivated for any projects though. Working 12 hrs/day at the plant kinda puts a damper on that too.

I'll pass on the message as I'm sure that'll give him incentive to feel better... so he can run! Now if you happen to have a gal closer (well, at least half) to my age, send her on over. I have lots of groceries and boat trip pics along with some really good stories.

If life goes as planned (for once), I'll be joining the snowbird club in about six more years. Looking forward to provisioning the Hatt from the dock in my photo and making my way to Florida. It's nice knowing I can get there from here.

I'll be ready to sell you a really good one by then. Stay in touch.

My policy - FWB CEC! Friends With Boats who need Cheap Easy Crew!

In Fl now thankfully, but getting hate mail continuously just now from friends and family in DC and NC.

But it's cool here too, so no swimming. However, after 30 years up north, I just can't do it anymore.

don't let the cold slow you down. Get some friends and go for a ride!

Great pics, ideas, and stories!

Yesterday I took Tim's advice and tinkered around the boat. Got grease under my fingernails and made some progress on the hose project.

Now we're buried under about 18" of snow and I'm making baked oatmeal for breakfast. The dog is having great fun in his first real snow. Will have to get out with him later for a romp around the hood.

I guess the moral is that you've got to make the best of what you've got and be very thankful for what you do have! As a good friend of mine says "pull your skirt down" (aka: quit whining).

Great pic! I spent the winters snowmobiling up in the Adirondacks. Planning a trip to Old Forge to take the family trail riding this winter. It's been dry up there this year.

That photo was taken on the Stillwater Reservoir last year. We started in Old Forge and made out way to the Plateau in Tug Hill. A nice 150 mile day, high temp -4.

It helps pass the time between boating seasons.

Working on my house in the OBX. It's not the same as being on the boat- but it isn't snowing down here.

Yet.

i feel your pain even though i live on the Suncoast of Florida our boat has been going thru a partial refit and its been out of use for the last 7 months ...we will finally be done this week where we can move our boat ...it will be a 2 day trip...to our next marina in St. Petersburg where we will continue with our refit of our new wood floors....we don't like rugs....have a marina set up for April in the keys i hope we can be done and on our way end of March....
