Hatteras Model
42' CONVERTIBLE (1971 - 1978)
Looking at buying a 60ft eb late 80s model.

What would you recommend for size and weight of tender placed on bow?

The one it comes with?

Don't buy a tender before the boat.

If the boat does not have one but has a Davit that will be your guide.

It doesn't have one but, it has a 1500 lb. that just seems like a lot of weight to put on the bow.

What is the boat? I have a 65 EB with a 1700lb davit. PO had a 15ft Nautica with a 90HP 4 Stroke on the bow. 1500lbs means very little to this boat. A friend had a 60EB with a 13.5 Nautica with a 50HP 4 stroke. No issue there either. Both boats are Hatts.

Would like a 15-17ft flats boat

I have a 13 foot Boston Whaler Contender with a 50 Hp Mercury on the bow of my 52C. The boat doesn't know it's there.

At some point isn't launch and retrievable problematic ?...do you have motorized rotation on the davit ? Hydraulic boom would be nice too.

In the early 90's I had a 9 foot Whaler on the bow of Egg Harbor 40C and seems like even that was no piece of cake to deal with...a.. manual davit except for the winch cable.

fully hydraulic. No problem with a 15ft rib.

Only 20? To get a 1000 lb rated transom davit new would be 7.5 and it has nothing but a winch.

Cool....hope it (davit) came with the boat...otherwise over 20 grand new, yes ?
North of 30K. I was told almost 40K installed. Also have a TNT tender lift that they spent almost 30K on.

Holy cow... in addition to raising to different angles and rotating under power, does the boom move in and out (to become shorter or longer) via hydraulics also ? Marquipt ?

With all that hydraulic stuff I imagine the davit itself is quite heavy.

No in out. It's a Nautical Structures unit. No idea what it weighs but I doubt it matters much to the boat.

My Viking came with 1000 lb Marquipt manual davit and two sets of chocks...but no dinghys. The chocks between davit and adjustable but the width available between the davit column and raising seating area is a little less than 4 feet such that the only thing that will fit there is a SeaDoo...which is apparently what owner previous to previous owner had.

On the outside of the davit are some slightly odd looking chocks that I was presuming all this time probably held a light all fabric inflatable. But come to find out he actually had a 14 foot RIB with 90 HP motor up there. Seems like too much weight to me but PO said it worked. I bought a 2006 Avon Seasport 360 (about 11 1/2') with 25 hp Yamaha and have yet to haul it up...sure hope it fits those odd looking chocks. Guess I need a small SeaDoo up there as well just to look cool ;)
