Just finished replacing all veneer in the salon and galley of our 1981 48MY. Also built tv cabinets and currently building a built in sectional. I have 8-10 sheets of quarter sawn teak veneer that matched our original veneer very well. I would be happy to send you a sample or a 2x3 piece.

Also, I am in the furniture manufacturing business and have made tooling for many old the moldings I have needed to complete our restoration. I'm happy to help others in their restoration efforts if possible.

Kevin

Kevin, did you everfinish your restoration? Progress, pictures???

Hi Bob,

The restoration of the 48 MY is nearly complete. I recently replaced the core in the foredeck from the inside and need to install the pulpit and windlass. Then install new headliner in the forward stateroom so my wife can do her thing with decorating. All new Garmin radar, Chartplotter, transducers, instruments, rear facing camera and cameras in the engine room, dual VHF with AIS and on and on....

As I need projects to keep me busy, I recently purchased a 1975 Hatteras 31' Express Cruiser. It is a mess but the good thing is that everything looks original and all bits and pieces are there. It has twin Mercruiser 454's that appear to be in good shape. They will get pulled and " beefed up" a bit. I had it brought to my home to work on in the evenings. I live in Pinehurst, NC and the 48MY is three hours away in Southport, NC. We go to Southport most weekends.

At age 62 I am making a shift from my vintage road racing cars to boats (keeping the cars though). Reaction time is less of an issue at 10 kts than it is at 218 mph at Daytona or the Glen. Also my wife loves the boat and has never had a lick of interest in race cars. The kids are gone and it is time for us.

The offer stands for help with woodworking.

Cool. Southport....one of our favorite towns along the waterway. We usually stop at the town dock as we go by and visit good friends who live on the waterfront there. I'll try to remember to contact you when we are there and maybe we can swap stories. Meanwhile pictures please??;)
