Anyone know where to obtain this? Has anyone ever used this on an aft deck? Fly bridge?
Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks,
Ron

Ron,
The OEM parquet used in many of the Hatt MY's in the 1980's was of the Haddon Hall pattern. From my research, I was told that it was discontinued a few years ago. I was lucky and found some at a flooring dealer in Conn (I think).

Now, since that time, my dock neighbor found the same flooring from another source and it was prefinished. I could check with him for the source if that is what you need. He just bought it last winter so hopefully they still have stock on hand.

Sky,
Yes, please do and thank you so very much for the assistance (again)

Ron:

I have installed teak decking in the cockpit of a 52. On the aft deck, I don't think I would go the teak parquet route. Unless it is one of the synthetic products that is rated for exterior use it probably won't hold up. I used a product made by teak decking systems. They are in the Tampa Flordia area. What they do is have you measure the area, create a template, and they make a composite teak planked deck that looks terrific. Similar to something that you would see on a nice Burger or Feadship. It will problay come in about 3 to 4 pieces. You rough up the gel coat / non-skid and then secure it with TDS' recommened adhesive. The neat thing is that they will make this to go around existing deck hardware. You may have to use few mechanical fastners to hold the deck down until the glue goes off. I installed the few screws in the black thyocal so there were no bungs involved. Again, TDS will advise on this.

I don't think I would do this on the flybridge. Teak is a soft wood. You have to be very careful on cleaning it. Only use a soft brush and single part cleaner. Tide detergent actually works well. Brush against (not with the grain) to avoid wearing the teak down. Don't ever put a sealer on it.. just a cleaner and brightener. You also need to insist that family and friends wear soft sold shoes when walking to the teak. I keep a basket of top sider canvas shoes in different sizes on board in a basket to ensure compliance with this issue.

If all of this sounds like a royal pain to you, you are correct. However, the teak cockpit looked beautiful. I would not trade it for a new Porsche...well maybe a sliver one!

Best
