  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
54' MOTOR YACHT (1985 - 1988)
Does anyone know a place that repairs the 2 wire ac signal based tachometers (no dc in except for bulb) that were standard in the 1980's motoryachts? One of the upper bridge tachs on my 54MY died and has resisted all efforts to get it going. All the usual cross jumpering etc. has been done to confirm the signal to it is fine and of course, that it won't run off the other engines input. I've spoken with SW, teleflex etc who have 3 wire tachs (DC for bulb AND powering the tach) but it wouldn't match plus would require a DC source other than 32V that would also have to be wired into the ignition; not that big a deal but would require a dedicated converter and some minor wiring.

Much better to get this one going or finding a matching replacement.

Any ideas or names?

Thanks, Larry 87 54MY

I don't have firsthand experience with them yet, but Lauderdale Speedometer is highly recommended by a lot of people.

I do have first hand experience with Lauderdale Speedometer and they'd be the first place I'd call. Very familiar with our boats.

I agree, I just purchased a new sender from them for my Sun Tach and the tech I spoke with knew every detail of my 1985 setup. They also repair and or replace Tachs.

okay, thanks everyone. I'll call them.
