Swim Platform Brackets

I had some challenges w/ the swim platform brackets (search under swim platforms) and I finally had them fabricate some stainless ones at a metal shop and so far so good.

The swim platform bracket mold looks great. Does it have a provision for vent holes? IMHO, without some kind of cut-outs, you may have a problem with destroying it faster than you would like if you aggressively back down in any kind of sea way. Just a thought....

The best material for barckets is Monel, it's very pricy, however it will last as long as the boat. It's the same material used on the early Hat exhaust systems especially the DD naturals with the high risers and center-line muffler.

Even WITH the vents you can rip the platform off the boat.

I did - twice - resulting in the need to make fiberglass repairs to the platform. The brackets held, but the fiberglass did not.

Both times were occasioned by backing down hard on a big fish, and is why I removed my platform entirely.
