Hatteras Model
43' MOTOR YACHT (1984 - 1987)
We have a 1986 Hat 43 MY with the original swim platform which is only 20 odd inches wide. It is not in the cards
cards to buy a new one plus a new davit system. Any suggestions of what system would work to load
and unload aft, not to the sides, and is somewhat affordable. The dinghy mounted on the rear hardtop
just will not work for me any longer.
Thanks Werner Schoenknecht

Don't know how much you use the swim platform, but the Weaver davit system might work depending on the size of the dinghy.

I've posted this a couple of times. Powered transom davit from Nick Jackson Davits. Can launch or retrieve dinghy in under a minute. No need to remove the motor. I had him change the dimensions of their standard unit so my stern light would still be visible. My dimensions should work for your hull as they are the same. I added 2 D rings to the dinghy and snap shackles to the davit to secure the dinghy so it won't swing. You can see one of them in the pic. I haven't come across anything that is easier to use. Once raised, snap the 2 shackles and the safety at the transom connection and you are all done.

Kevin,

Did you install it yourself and do you mind sharing the price?

Thanks,

Kevin,

Do you know the weight limits, and does it seem rugged enough to run off-shore with dink attached?

I installed it myself. Cost of unit was $4550 plus shipping. There may have been a slight charge to color match paint to my boat. Add wire and incidentals. Mine is a 500 Lb. capacity unit but they can make them 1000 Lb. and higher. My objective was to keep the weight down as much as possible so I went with an aluminum hull Rib which is very light. Been out in 6-7' chop in lake Erie with no issues. Rides pretty nice back there. www.nickjacksonco.com
