53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
I was making the assumption that the swim platform wood was teak.

But then looking at it, it appears it had varnish on it.

I thought you only put varnish on Mahogany and teak or or teak sealer on teak.

Anyone know what these are made of?

Also, I can't tell if these are split down the middle or not. I see slots on the outside end, they appear they could be split down the middle for easy assembly but can't really tell.

Thoughts?
 
Most swim platforms ARE teak. Teak is oily, and I think it's not easy to varnish, but not impossible.
 
It’s teak. Some have been known to varnish it. I’ve always sealed mine with Tropical Teak Sesler from West Marine.
 
Awesome thank you, I will sand and use the Teak Sealer, it looks awesome on my bow pulpit!
 
Everything on your boat is teak. Varnish works fine on teak
