  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
61' MOTOR YACHT (1980 - 1985)
New dual station sender installed on both Engines...
ENGINE BLOCK HEATERS HAVE BEEN ON...

Port gauges preform as expected on both pilothouse and flybridge. Upon switching ignition on, both slowly rise to around 130° and return to zero when switched off.

Starboard (I might add that they have never worked, hence the replacement of senders to begin with)
Pilothouse gauge does not read/move when ignition is switched on...
Flybridge gauge reads almost "High" just below 240 instantly...

With sender disconnected and sending wire grounded, both gauges instantly peg high as expected when ignition is switched on and return to zero when switched off.

Sender shows 101ohms when tested which I "assume" is ok due to block heaters being on at the time and engine warm...

My assumption is that somewhere between the 2 gauges I have an issue, but I cannot figure it out?

I recall a similar issue with another HOF member.
Come to find out, his new dual gauge sender was the issue.

Takes you a few minutes to swap senders between engines,, Could be worth the time in further trouble shooting.

Thank you for the info, I had seen that thread... Today i plan to disconnect the flybridge gauge to see if the pilot house responds as it should and then reverse. I will swap out senders if nothing changes and advise...

Solved... Flybridge gauge must be bad/shorted. Disconnected and Pilot House gauge works as it should... New gauge on the way...

Thanks for all of the advice.

Ah, oh, er, Disconnected one gauge and the other works.
The other one moves or works accurately??

The reason there is a dual gauge sender is to take into account the resistance of a second gauge.

While you waiting on the new gauge, re-connect the fly-bridge and disconnect the lower helm gauge. Same results, Bad (wrong) sender. Different results then you may be rite on.

Exposed flybridge instruments do take a bit more abuse in the weather and do fail a lil more often.
