I once helped deliver a 1979 53MY with 8v71ti's. This boat had custom lead curtains hanging in the engine rooms that encircled each engine. It made it almost impossible to work on the engines and it seemed hotter than normal inside those curtains. I also did not notice a big improvement in sound levels.

This thread inspired me to use some "Silent Running" paint I had laying around but never got around to using.

Since I had the port side cabinet out and had wedged myself into the space between the cabin wall and the hull to replace the vent screen, using some UHB double side tape to hold the new screen in place;

I decided to paint the inside of the 1/4" paneling which separates the cabin space from the Detroit space.

I have my doubts that 3 coats of sound deadening paint will make a difference but since I was there.... I also painted the outside of the cabinet enclosure. I was a little "generous" with the paint, which may have contributed to some difficulty I had putting the cabinet enclosure back in its hole. A few minutes with a "Sureform" scraper took care of that.
