What maintenance steps does one take for the sump boxes for shower/sink/ac condensation? I’m worried about the possible build up hair from showering and shaving. Or soap scum from shampoos and soaps. Etc. I have not had a problem at all. Just trying to avoid a future problem. My current plan is to occasionally poor some bleach in the drains and let it soak in the sump box. Then maybe once or twice a year, do a deep clean. Vacuum all the water out and scrub down the sump box to remove any leftover debris. What, if anything, do you do?

I saw the advice here to use bromine tablets, and I tried it out.

They last a long time, and seem to work well.

1 tablet probably lasts 2-3 weeks in the box with daily showers.

You still get the line around the top of the water a bit, but the water overall stayed clean.

Other advice seen here: no bar soap!

Float switch on my mid bathroom stayed on recently. Luckily I was aboard and noticed the red light glowing under the basin.

Exercised the float switch and it was gummed up. Added biodegradable bilge cleaner via sink, exercised float switch with long pair of BBQ tongs and let sit. After an hour of soaking it was all back to new. Lots of little stones in the sump from over the years.

I pour a cup of bleach in the shower about every week or two and that seems to keep it fairly clean. As far as the hair is concerned, I have a covered that goes over the drain that catches most of it.

I clean the screen aveu year or whenever needed. Not much more to do.

OVE IT. Customer service has been awesome. I had an inoperable manifold (out of the box) as a live aboard, they overnighted a new one. No sump whatsoever, screen over the shower drain is all we need but the bottom of the manifold does twist off to clean it out, if necessary
