Just talked to Dave, and the starboard transmission is good to go. Replacing the pump did the trick, and apparently an O ring was cut from the previous work and caused the leak.

Castleton Boat Club has a crane rig for dropping sailboat masts.

About 10mi north of Shady Harbor.

Excellent! Thank you for that information.

Well, it’s official. We just came up with a start date of May 7. That should have us entering the Erie Canal around the 22nd or so. Hopefully things will be a bit less trashy on the river portions by then, and the water levels on the Great Lakes will be down. I’ve been running my mouth a lot and have come up with some good sources of local information, but keep those comments and recommendations coming.

Should be an epic trip... for all the right reasons. :D

Those that have being following your "epic trips" are glued to the screen.....:p:p:p

Snowfall has been pretty much non-existent this year up there. Rain has found its way to the ocean. Water levels should be reasonable.

Maybe on the rivers, but the Great Lakes are way up at record high levels with no end in sight. Be careful of fixed height pilings up here. Most are under the rub rails on a 60MY now.

Yep, that's what I'm being told from everyone on the lakes. Even being told fuel could be an issue in some areas where there are no floating docks. We'll be prepared for whatever contingency we're faced with.

I'm thinking between Trina's meal plan, the restaurants and the liquid refreshments we are bringing along, an extra pax or 5 we should be good. The greater challenge will be shedding the weight once we are under the bridge. Maybe calisthenics at dawn once we hit Lake Erie?

Did you pick up the two sets of 24' oars and Viking helmets on that list I gave you?

Could bring whole new meaning to the command of, stroke, but we can reduce our carbon footprint while cutting down on our waist.

Nuts, I thought it was 24 sets of 2’ oars.

Sounds like you have the southern part down so my suggestion north of MD, go outside and avoid NJ at all cost! You don't want to be in the average 4-5' in Barnegat Bay. It is way too shallow for the Hatt! Other than Atlantic City. AC has deep water unlike many of the others. Point Pleasant is also a good stop for fuel or to spend a quick night. Once you come up the East River (Look up East River history, "SS General Slocum" tragedy, Typhoid Mary etc) there is a LOT of good places on Long Island Sound. If it fits into your day's travel time, feel free to ask & I will have you as our guest at Riverside Yacht Club. It's not walking distance to town (Uber) but it's a gorgeous historic Club with a big marina with floating concrete docks. Lots of big yachts come in to stay & you'd likely be near my 50 sport. If you are coming up short with anything on the LI Sound, I'm very happy to point you in the right direction for marinas, parts/supplies or anything you might need.

Thanks for your input and the generous invitation. Our NYC area schedule is a tad up in the air, but we have discussed a side trip that could possibly include LIS. I think a night cruise from our planned stop at Liberty Landing Marina into the city and back is a must do.

We'll see how our progress goes prior to that and make a final decision based on that and the weather.

Are You selling tickets for this adventure? Sounds like you could have some takers!

Maybe I'll come up with one of those GoPro cameras and set up a pay per view.

I've actually considered taking along a few paying passengers when I do deliveries sans owners (with their permission, of course), but that would open a whole other can of worms. Unless of course I just keep it to family like you, Uncle Tom. Maybe I could get some pointers from MASTERSPAM. :D

To say this trip is becoming complicated would be a major understatement. At this point, things are still a go, but I'm looking at plans B, C, and D. All these states issuing shelter in place orders, the Welland Canal being closed to pleasure craft until further notice, the always present threat of spring flooding on the rivers, and the yet to be confirmed, scheduled closure of the Illinois River on July 1.

What was originally going to be a leisurely, sight-seeing pleasure delivery is now shaping up like an action adventure movie where getting from point A to point B will be a challenge, and we could end up eating carp on a stick if we get stuck someplace after the food and fuel runs out. Could make for really good, reality TV show, so I'm going to start talking to people who could make that happen. I just need to think up a catchy title that will pull folks in. Anybody want to help with that one?

Better take a lot of video, sounds like the next YouTube sensation.

If they're not selling fuel around here (and for a small service charge), you can raft up to me in Charleston and I'll pump you over a thousand gallons or so at cost. No problem checking your oil and catching the windshield.

I can replace it and come out ahead.

LOL!! Maybe we should pack up a few bows and lots of arrows. I'll call Dave, Bobby, if we are confronted by backwoods types who want to take away our carp on a stick.
