If you don't mind being a little North, we are happy at a small marina called Fort Pierce Inlet Marina, it is right next door to the Pelican Yacht Club and I think we only pay around $11 per ft on an annual, I don't know the rate for monthly. You can't beat the short run out the inlet :)

Ginger

If you have any contact information I will gladly call and check it out. I will try and look it up.
Thanks for the information. The short run to the inlet really sounds good.
But where ever we end up staying I would like to meet up with you at some point in the month of March. To meet a fellow forum member and also pick your brain on fishing!

Again Thank you very much!
Steve

The problems from west to east are
1 after the miserable mile follow the magenta line on the chart as the shoal extends out to near the can at the entrance to the river, then follow the ranges.

Captddis,
What/where is the "miserable mile"?

Mark

I think.....Fort Pierce Inlet Marina (772) 464-8451. Bill is the owner and should be able to help you out.

Hello Mark,
What is referred to as the miserable mile in the Fort Myers, Sanibel area.
Starts around the mouth of the Caloosahatchee River extends SW just past Picnic Island. Everyone has there interpretation as to why it is called the miserable mile. I don't know how or who gave it that name but I can tell you from boating here that it is probably because of the narrow channel. You get out of it and you can be in trouble quick. It is generally not a problem until weekends then it gets real congested at times. Then if you are a small boat going down the M.M you can surely say it is a miserable mile. There are times when you would want to call the whole area thru Shell Island miserable when you have inconsiderate boaters out there. It does seem to be getting better though.
Now I am not the authority on this I am just pointing out my observations.
I am sure there are members on the forum who could give you all the details.

Thanks for the explination, Steve.

We came thru that area mid-day on the Staurday before New Year's eve and I had one of the crew take a few pictures of the area because I was amazed at the number of boats.

Thanks to this thread/Chapeaux!, I called the "Harborage" and decided to move the boat there this past weekend. The slips are brand new and the run to the inlet takes 1/2 hour or less Wahoo's restaurant is right at the end of the main walkway and, has some really good seafood. Now, navigating through the St. Lucie inlet with a WSW wind @ 20+kts... not so pretty :( ...makes Ft Pierce look more appealing. Anyhow, we are here.

We should consider getting this Hatteras tournament set-up..!?

I think it would be awesome! Maybe we could get big time sponsors like Hatteras, Sams, Galley Maid, Depco, Pipe Welders, Shimano, Detroit Diesel, Cruise Air, Aeroquip, Veem.....Any More?

Smaller locals....Choas Rods, Bait Masters, Hydroglow, Capt. Harry's, The Fly Fisherman....Any More?

If we could get 15 boats the 1st year that would be a huge success. Heck since we're not going to the Bahamas this year we might as well party in the good ole USA and give it to people who want it.

If you guys show interest I will get the ball rolling.

Hello Gregg,
Sounds like you are going to save a few bucks that's great.
I haven't secured my slip yet but I probably will this week or the first of next.
They seem like good people talking to them on the phone. The Harborage that is. I will let you know my dates when they are set.
Thanks
Steve

Thoward,
Think we ought to get another thread going to address this topic specifically?
We need to define the parameters.
Deadbait on light tackle? Stuart/Ft Pierce/Palm Beaches would pull in lots of boats...maybe too many for starters..?

I am in Charleston, SC on weekdays but would be happy to spend some time dialing for sponsorship...
