Stretchy lines ???

Wow - A buddy of mine just checked on our boat (on the river in Cincinnati) after a huge windstorm, compliments of Ike, and said our lines had streteched and were actually dipping into the water on both sides of the boat. Boat's tied on 2 sides in our slip that's about 20' wide. I'm in Berlin right now so can't go there myself so he's securing lines appropriately.

Question is - Lines stretching? Never heard of that one. Oh and thankfully everything else is fine!

Yep, lines - especially the 3 strand spring lines - stretch.

Another trick I learned a while back - if you have old, stiff lines you are thinkig of tossing - put some tension (a lot of tension) on them and you'll be surprised how they soften up.
