Stoopid noob question.....

I've been watching lots of videos of people messing with Detroit Diesels. Very entertaining and frequently informative. The bus crowd is quite hands on.

Every time I see one running with the valve cover(s) off I notice that the whole rocker gallery is dry, valves and injectors. Every motor I've ever worked on was soaking wet up there, and running with the valve covers off could get messy... Does this area get lubricated?

What am I missing here?

OK, that's what I figured but I had to ask. While I have your attention, I am assuming that the engines mounted on their side in the back of a bus have a different oil pan/pickup setup?
