A friend of mine used to have a 1981 42ft Post that was extremely nice. I had a 41 Egg Harbor at the time and we would travel to the Keys together often. The ride on that Post was awful in a following sea and was the reason for him selling the boat. (bought a Hatteras of course) If you go with the Post make sure to get one after the hull design change which was a big improvement. They went from completely flat transom deadrise to about a 7degree and changed the entry some, big improvement. By the way, my Egg Harbor was a nice boat and rode much better than the 1981 Post. The Egg Harbor doesn't ride like my Hatteras does though.

Well, a good friend of mine just bought a 48 Ocean in Palm Gardens, Fl. It has 600 MANS. It surveyed out better than many surveys I have seen and is loaded with equipment. I'm helping to run her up an late April to Ct.

I'll let you know the results. I know all of the Ocean talk of "flexible flyers" and all, so we'll see. It will be much different than my 1965 50' MY that cruises at 10-12 knots. We'll be doing 20-25 knots. Being in a bit of a hurry, we'll go outside as much as possible so it should be a good "shake down".

To be continued!!

It's always fun to burn someone elses fuel :D

There are a few boats out there that nearly meet your requirements. 6 hits just in the first search from $169,900-$199,000 all Hatteras, Post and Viking. Most have 6-71TI, one repower with Cummins and one with 6v92's, from 36'-43'. Nice thing is a few have been on the market for a while and the prices are starting to drop. All seem to start high, but hey would you not want the most you could get if selling. One boat was in Texas but at 36' can be loaded on a truck and moved to your area if the hard top can be removed. Good luck with your search, low initial value usually means required maintainence was probably not performed as needed. Spend a little extra loot for the boat with proper care.

know of a very, very well reconstructed chris craft 36c with triple nickels that can be had for a song...completely rebuilt skin-up. very solid boat. located in ft lauderdale. likely can be had for 75-80k.

Hey all. Still here and still looking. Thanks for all the advice. I am close to making an offer contingent on surveys. WIll keep you posted.
