Starter question

Is there a difference between the starters on my 3208 cats and a truck starter.

If your starter is mounted behind the transmission with the pinion facing forward, then there is a difference.

If it is mounted in front of the flywheel housing with the pinion facing aft, they would be similar.

And, while it is not so important for diesel, for gas engines you need ignition protection. Trucks don't have it.

It's mounted behind. Thank you. I just pd 400 canadian to have it rebuilt. At least i know what i have. I see them online for under 300.
