  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
41' DOUBLE CABIN (1962 - 1965)
The original Hatteras Check logos on our '65 41DCMY were chrome plated plastic 8" long x 3" high. The didn't hold up too well and in my opinion were too large for the area where they were installed.

I had a fabricator make 6" long versions of the logo in 1/4" thick 316 stainless steel. (photo attached)

The fabricator used a computer controlled water jet to cut the logos. Now that the graphics software is developed, more logos can be produced in any size. I have no commercial interest or relationship with the fabricator other than producing these logos for me. If you want to investigate buying similar logos contact Jon-David Nutter, General Manager, Dix Metals Inc. directly.

Thanks for posting this!!! I've thought about these from time to time as the plastic ones age rather quickly, but I wonder how much these weigh...... a lot more than the plastic ones, I'm guessing.

It looks fabulous. Can you say how much they are?

According to my postal scale the 6" long 1/4" thick logo weights 4.6 oz. I paid $104 per logo. Additional pieces should be less since I covered the cost of developing the graphics, but I have no control of the price. You could probably get by with thinner SS, but to keep the price down you would want to stay with a material thickness the fabricator has in stock.

The log might be further improved by having a triangle shaped piece cut between the horizontal leg of the check and a thin horizontal line of material below the text. On the other hand this might make things too busy.

Just ordered a few from JD. Looking forward to getting them. Does anyone have pics they can share of these logos installed?

I'll try again; I could not reach these guys. Thanks for updating this thread.

Mine are now installed, but I don't have a photo. I'll try to get one next week. To mount them we welded two 1/4-20 SS threaded rods to the back. This caused no discoloration on the face of the logo. A small chamfer is needed on the mounting hole to accommodate the small amount of weld material. I think you could drill a shallow chamfer in the back of the logo so that the weld would be flush, or spot weld the stud to the logo.

Here are a couple of photos with the thread rods welded on.Logo copy.webpLogo 2 copy.webp

Us Hatteras owners gotta be proud of how thick our

Classy touch.

Do you think they could mirror-image the check logo. On some of the convertibles the check matches the shape of the cabin overhang. If it was reversed it would match on both sides.

I'm sure he could. You'd probably have to pay another setup charge since he would have to alter the artwork.
