Hey, lets try to keep these things out of the Pacific. John is hurting tourism on the Mexican coast. But the real attention-getter is the piece I just read on Wake Is. Winds of 155 mph with gusts to 190 were recorded before all the instruments broke. Can you imagine the seas? Fortunately, they had the good sense to airlift all 200 residents out before it hit. No looters to worry about on Wake!

I lived a few miles slightly north of ground zero for Andrew and that broke all of the NHC gauges w/ similar wind speeds....which were therefore estimates. Not too pretty.

I believe that's when they decided to build the bunker type structure that they now reside in on the FIU campus in west Dade.

There were some folks that elected to stay aboard their boats and many paid the ultimate price.
