  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
36' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1969 -1977)
looking for someone in s.e. fla to build me a new 'L' sofa w/rod storage.
anyone have any ideas? thanks.....John

John, Sorry about the delay getting back to you , I'm still on Bahama time. The company I used for my sofa was Glenco (772) 299-1900. I believe they are out of Ft. Pierce and really nice people. Mike :D

I know you wanted florida , but just in case you still need someone, this guy is in NJ , did mine in 2 base sections and 2 back sections , shipped it to me for installation. Fit like a glove and easy to handle when you take sections apart , and tons of storage space inside.

Call Melvin Kelly at Glen Eagle Furniture, 704-873-3244. They are making a few custom pieces for me right now. Price was a lot less than others and came highly recommended by Tom Slane. Krazy8 how much was the sectional?

Looks great, also wondering about price if you don't mind

Price was $1,463.00

That is a good deal, frankly. I found an original Hatteras L shaped sectional and restored it- spent a good bit more than that. The L shaped settees, I think they were called, came in a variety of boats and pop up occasionally on the used market, but not often. Generally they are pretty much trashed and require lots of restoration. (reveneering, structural work, etc). They had a feature which pulled out into a double berth which I dispensed with- I wanted the storage underneath more than I needed to sleep two more people. Make sure whatever you get doesn't overlap the hatches or you'll have trouble getting into the engine room to do maintenance.

Thanks guys. As usual good info. I had one "ball park" price so far....$6500.00.
It looks the time it took to post this (as sloooow as my fingers work) will pay off.

Krazy8,

That is a great price. I am spending $3376 for both the port and starboard sides of the salon in my 46'. Design looks very similar to yours. I wish I had this info before so I could compare, particularly since I am in NJ.

John,

I got a lot of quotes in the 6K-7K range. Most of those are from people who design interiors, but don't do the actual construction. I received one quote for $7200. I later found out who was actually building it and they quoted me $3800!
Nearly 100% mark up just for placing my order.

Is flexsteel an acceptable brand? I found those on their websight. They come with the recliner or hide-a-bed option and ultraleather. What I was after [hide-a bed in an L shaped sectional] was about $2400. The sections came in many sizes.

I used one from a recent model Bertram 37 and it worked well. It was an "L" that fit against the forward wall on the port side. I'm 6'00" and I could sleep on it when opened.
