Jack,

We don't even need the government to help the down trodden, the churches of America can handle that very well. They do it on a one by one basis, investigate and make sure they need it and then give it willingly. Big brother just gives anybody anything and they lie cheat and steal to stay on it.

The only thing we need Washington to do is PROTECT OUR BORDERS and stay the HELL out of our business. The states and local government and churches can do the rest.

Am I the only one that understands you can not borrow your way out of debt? The latest bs out of dabamas mouth is no social security checks, no medicaid medicare, no mention of cutting off foreign aid, pay checks to congress, and dabamas pay check. I hope when re election time come around people remember the thing that idiot brought up was no payment for the people who have contributed to a system, congress has raped into debt.

800 billion dollars borrowed, where did the money go, no money to shore up the social security, medicare or medicaid. The special interest groups that contributed to dabama campain got plenty of money, be sure to understand that.

When the leader of the country lets this go to this late date before turning it into a crisis, and storms out of a budget meeting because things aren't going his way, there is something very wrong.

How about cutting off foreign aid, if we can't afford to pay our bills how can we afford to give money away.

Has anyone looked into how much the tax payers spent for bimbo dabama's latest junket to africa?

The kids coming out of school today sure don't get it. I wonder how many 40 and under have (significant) savings accounts today versus 25 years ago?

I would like to know what spending cuts other than social security, medicare, and medicaid. We are borrowing money and still giving away how much in foreign aid? When will the idio0ts wake up and learn you can not buy loyality or friendship.

How many millions of tax payer dollars are being wasted and will be with more comming to be wasted on owebama's campain. Who pays the presidents travel expenses to fire up Air Force One for him to go on the campain trail? Most presidents move into the white house with their immediate family, how much are the tax payers paying to support other members of owebamas faqmily, not to mention the cost of bimbobama's entourage.

Why hasn't anyone in congress considered and import tax a imported goods, or raising said tax?

So far not much talk of cutting the education funding, but that's another one of their favorite targets when belt tightening is in order.

It's not only owebama that is at fault, but he is supposed to be the leader, so far he acts likie a spoiled brat that has to have his way. The rest of congress needs to be cleaned out, re electing the same idiots expecting different results, certainly is not the way to go.

I hope everyone watches the Murdoch debacle unfold, we are now having the politicians wanting to dictate who the CEO should be, not the company shareholders who speak every day and devalue the Company, I'm sure before this is over, someone in the Fed will demand that Fox be sold, maybe to a democrat friend.

If the market is truly going to work, the consumer and shareholders must be the ones to actually control a Company's public behavior, failing that, we transfer the power to Government and never get it back and as we know, Governments adore having the power.

I forgot to add,,the German Chancellor wants private money to be invested in Greece, can you imagine, the banks pour zillions into an empty economy, then they almost go broke and the taxpayer gets hammered again....it is almost erie the way these people want to have the world go into economic downturn and yet deny all liability for the actions they took to create the disasters.

Makes one question our hollowed hall of "higher" learning??

Here is an interesting article about government killing the economy:

http://www.cdapress.com/news/local_news/article_1e237d66-ae68-11e0-8412-001cc4c002e0.html

I watched an interview of Frederick Hayek on youtube. He made the statement that socialism and fascism are the same.

He is right on about too large a government destroying an economy. Without free enterprise innovating and becoming more efficient there will be no growth.

I wonder who really decides who we get to vote for in the presidential elections.

To give some perspective on the federal deficit, the amount your government now spends over the amount it brings in each year is now bigger than the entire economic output of Canada. Yah I know ... one could argue that must mean our economy is pretty small, eh?

.... another perspective .. I read the other day that the US federal deficit is now so large that if interest rates on that debt climbed to 6%-7% it would take EVERY dollar the US gov't pulls in just to pay the interest on that debt (leaving nothing for anything else) .. and given the US corporate tax rate is now amongst the highest in the industrialized world, there not much room to hike that anymore without a whole new set of issues. For us up here in the frozen north we worry a lot these days about our good neighbour to the south and the direction in Washington.

The cure is not difficult, only tough to implement...balance budget legislation, even if it takes 15 years, the confidence that inspires in a country's fiscal plans is quite amazing and the related growth in the economy is most beneficial.Way better than current lets spend our way to prosperity with "more debt please"

Ah yes....but lets not forget about the Giant White Elephant in the room. It's all about getting re-elected!

If none of them had to worry about that (term limits), balancing the budgets would be simple.

So, Greece gets to borrow at 3-4 %, gets extended payments, does not have to worry about external credit ratings so much anymore, private investors in the debt will get a haircut...now....is that so much different than any dumb Governments solutions to it's own problems ? and we wonder why there are so many unemployed in private industry, but no worries, the politicians and media have the answers as always.
