Greetings all,

When I turn on my 12 vdc overhead light in the head, it takes about 3 seconds before it comes on.. Any Ideas? Seems to be taking longer each time. This is in my spare head that I don't go in very often. The light fixture is the typical round perko style. Oh, and the switch is the house hold style located by the sink.

Cheers!

That would make me a little concerned as almost sounds like a poor connection that is heating up. Might check if the Perko light is installed with wire nuts, instead of crimped connection. Also check the center base of the light to check for a little corrosion- might need a little cleaning. My overhead lights in the heads and v-berth come on instantly, but the 12v lights that are a std. bulb seem to come on more slowly.

Is the bulb getting as bright as it used to? Definetely check the elec connections.

Yea, my line of thinking. FIRE! I will tear it down today and check it out. Thanks...

You definitely have a connection problem. Do voltage drop testing to find it, before it causes a fire. Do a search for voltage drop as I gave a complete description of it on this forum in the past.
