Hatteras Model
52' CONVERTIBLE (1983 - 1990)
I have a 1984 52C. Both showers on board are drained by the same sump pump. Problem is if the drain in the guest shower is not sealed somehow the sump just sucks air and won't drain the master shower! Does anyone else have this issue and if so how are you addressing it?

Hi in my 52c 1986 the shower sump is located in the guest room. Both shower drain by gravity to the sump area, them the bilge pump do it work.

my showers gravity drain into the fwd bilge sump where a Rule 2000 discharges them

Sounds like a closed system that’s been incorrectly plumbed so you don’t have a flooded inlet. Does the drain from the guest shower enter above the pump inlet and the drain from the master shower enter from below the inlet? That would produce the result you described. Can you post a picture?

Even if it was a closed system, it should be pumping water. If it is pumping air, something is wrong below.

Also look for a check valve in the discharge line. I did this in mine to minimize the water level in the sump but it just made the pump cavitate
