has anybody upgraded thier shower door lock on a 53my or a 58yf? mine has what appears to be original aluminum flip hooks on either side of the shower door, inside and outside of both shower doors [share shower in aft of boat]. on three different occasions someone has gotten locked in the shower when the outside hook flipped over while they were showering. does anyone know of a good lock or latch that can replace the original? maybe something that will opperate from the inside or outside at the same time so this doesn't happen again. thanks bigbill

That happened in the movie Captain Ron. Kurt Russel, Mary Kay place were in the shower when the mop locked them in. then the hand towel clogged the drain, and the shower water handle came off. Capt. Ron then had to come in and save the bare butts. If you haven't seen the movie, it's a real laugh.

I would leave your shower the same, for just such occasions.

I just let our latch hang down. We never use that thing. Our '86 36C has a good magnetic latch. Evertime I have used that stupid flip over thing someone tries to open he door and that trys to pull the screws out of the teak edge. If you let it hang down it should never latch.:)

The site said the video was removed. can you find that again. love to see it. funny as heck
