My friend has a 1978 42c. 30 amp system. What's the proper shore set up. He is currently running Y adapter from his boat to one 30 amp cord dockside. I happen to run just the opposite 50 amp Y from dock, two 50 amp cords to boat.
Just questioning his set up ?
Thanks

On my 42 c it is set up with two 30 amp services, one for the boat service and the other just for the a/c units. Two cords from dock to boat.

He is running only one 30 amp cord and splitting it with Y at the boat. He trips breakers when running a/c and other house stuff.
I have a Y that's 50 amp 125/250 that splits to two 30 amps cords to boat. . Was going to give it to him if that's a better set up for him.

My 36c it is also set up with two 30 amp services. Have one for the boat service and the other just for the a/c units. I run a 30 amp splitter with only one cord going to power pole.

I just pick and choose what I run and be smart about it.....never had any issues in 18 years. And I CAN still run both a/c's with the other small draw stuff still on. Just not water heater or stove.

yes you should give him your 50 amp y to 2 30 amp assumining he has 2 30 amp cords long enough to reach it and 50 amp service is available. if 2 30 amp plugs are available of course he wouldnt need the splitter.definately not a great idea to put 2 30 amp circuits on one 30 amp plug unless you hve no choice.
