All over news. Just left Wilmington earlier, and it's going strong. Oak Island is 30 miles south. There was an earlier attack few days back where girls boogie board got chewed up. Same beach.

The two latest attacks occurred near a fishing pier according to the news. Structure plus fisherman casting bait usually has a higher instance of sharks cruising the area. Also, shortly after sunrise and just before sunset are times to avoid the surfline to shore areas as the sharks are feeding more intensely then. My heart goes out to these young ladies and their families.

It is sad, and you do feel for the children and their families. Obviously there is nothing you can do, and you can't live your life in a bubble, but as a parent, knowing my liitle girl or boy lost part of their arm I'd be devestated.

You never think that way until your a parent, and you always try do do what's best for your kids while giving them quality life expieriences. It would just hurt me inside to know I took my kids to the ocean on vacation to enjoy our time together and something so rare and crazy happened.

Our family loves the ocean and these types of rare accidents would never keep us off the water and I hope it never deters other families as well. Much more good than bad living a "Salt Life", but as a parent it really does hit home.

If I was one of those childrens fathers, many nights would pass before I would want to leave their sides. Even though there is nothing I can do other than provide comfort, love, and support, I would not want to leave them even for a minute. It would be a very scary event for anyone, especially a child.

Yes, it is all over the news down here right now. Very sad- and one of the kids was reported to be in critical condition when I listened to the radio earlier today. Scary.

Sad, but statistically, more likely to win the lottery?!?

Are you saying the family should buy lottery tickets.
