Series one 36 performance question

Guys,thanks for the input. Engines are 15 months old. I have 430 hrs, about 1/3 @cruise, 1/3 @hull speed (1100 RPM) and 1/3 at slow trolling (single engine idle RPM). On my old motors, injectors would load up with lots of low RPM time, don't know how the 330s handle lots of slow rockfish trolling. A little white smoke at idle but only when cold (first 2 -3 minutes). No smoke at idle or above once temp guages start to move. fuel burn seems unchanged. I have changed primary and secondary fuel filters, so I guess the next thing to check is to check EGT. Any other thoughts? Thanks, Bob K

One other thing , have you ever cleaned the aftercoolers? Dirty aftercooler = higher EGT and poor performance. Just brace yourself for the cost of the new gaskets, Paramount Rubber and Packing in Baltimore Md, can get you a exact replacement for $1.89 each VS the $48.00each from Cummins, and the Black ones for the 450c's will not work, niether will a whole bunch of little O-rings.

I service the aftercoolers every year, they are fine and I'm with you on the outrageous price Cummins charges for the silicone o-rings. I get mine from Marco Rubber for cheap. The engines have just under 600hrs and are ready for their first valve adjustment, maybe that will help but as for the performance situation I'm in a holding pattern till I resolve my bottom paint issue. The yard pressure cleaned the bottom exactly one month ago when I hauled to change the wheels and the grass is back. I think they mixed in fertlizer instead of copper at the paint factory, the grass actually LIKES THE PAINT! There's no sense in chasing performance with 2 inches of greenery hanging from the bottom.

Mike, FYI I have divers clean the bottom once a month here in the Pocket. Whe we in the cannal just south of you I had to clean every three weeks in summer!
