My votes will reflect this situation. Our local rep and Bill Nelson voted against but ole Mel Martinez voted for it. McCain, how could you support a bill with this much pork? 4 more years of lies?

I called my congressman to complain about the $150B in pork. "Oh, no problem, she (staffer) says, its a second bill out of the senate! The first bill is still $700B...not to worry". I still said I was against it. I realize the credit is tightening, but I was hoping for one more round and changes before it passed.

P.s., I now have two mortgages (moved, so first house is on market), but can still get car and other loans, "6 years on a car, ok, no problem". Go figure.

Zero confidence in McCain now...not a peep or a sound bite or a press release from him regarding the massive pork- his image is shot. And I am a Repub..rebup...repuber..oh, you know.

Someone with more polical science background than myself (which would include Kermit the frog) help me out....

If I am remembering correctly from School House Rock:

The house votes on a bill...if approved,

It then goes to the senate, if approved,

It goes to the POTUS to sign or veto.


Ok...how did the slight of hand work here, in that the house voted it down, then the senate said "well, we will just tack it onto this other bill and vote on it all as one package"

So now the House has to vote on this legislation again, part of which it previously passed, and part that they said was a turd sandwich.

How is this legal???????

Previous post pointed out the magic "conference committees". That's were all the fun is (real money). You know the famous car salesman's "teflon paint coating" in the movie Fargo. That committee is where the teflon coating is sold...course you don't get a vote lol!
