Sears water pump issue

I have the original Sears 3/4 hp water pump model #390251881. It seems that it is having a hard time building pressure once we are using the shower. The intake filter is perfectly clear. Possibly the impeller? It is the original.

AFAIK these were never installed by Hatteras… most older boats came with Galley Maid pumps. Late models came with Heqdhunter Mach 5

What kind of pump is it, shallow well pump? Some Use steel impellers which rust away with time, I doubt it s worth repairing

You might be right about the rust. i have noticed rust in the pressure regulator tube and rust stains on my tub under the drain.
I will order a replacement impeller as they are still available. Easier than replacing the pump.

Definitely a shallow well pump, looks like the Flotec I had for a while. Hopefully the impeller isn’t rusted solid on the shaft.

Is it just your shower? Turn on several faucets and see if the pressure also drops. I find that turning the shower off lets it dry out, causing water deposits to gradually block the little holes on the spray head. Soaking the showerhead in Limeaway or possibly vinegar will dissolve these and get you back in business.

Yes, it looks like a Flotec would be a good possibility if I need to replace the pump. Is yours a 3/4 horse. Which model do you have?
I just ordered an impeller and O ring this morning. Will give it a try in a week and report back. Question: when I seperate the pump where the steel clamp is, is there a check valve that will prevent the inflow water feed from the water tank emptying out once apart?
