Hatteras Model
36' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1969 -1977)
Over the past ten years I've bought three new Sherwood raw water pumps and rebuilt the rest so many times I've lost track. My last new Sherwood didnt even last one year/50hrs. Does anyone have any experience/feedback on Seamax pumps offered by Tony @ Seaboard Marine?

Tony is the guy on boat diesel who gives out lots of information on 6BTAs. When I was a subscriber there (4 - 5 years ago) trying to learn all I could about Cummins 330s, the Seamax pumps got good feedback there. I have no personnal experience since (luckily) the OEM Sherwoods on my 330Bs are still fine at 950 hrs. Might be worth the $15.00 (or what ever it is now) to join boatdiesel forum or get someone here to check out more recent information on the Seamax pumps.

Good luck, Bob K

Any time a Sherwood 17xx series fails on a Cummins I try to use a Seamax pump. They are superior.

I just had the sea water pump on a 330 replaced by a dealer and the new pump, of unspecified manufacture, cost my customer $1,161.99

They ARE better, they cost less, and every single thing I have ever bought from Tony at Seaboard has worked perfectly the first time out. The man knows his stuff. And one of our forum members is a dealer for this particular item as well. (hint hint) I plan to install them as well, but not until I finish this paint job and get her back in running trim.

Thanks for the info everyone, looks like I'll be ordering a pair Monday.

I have had mine for about 3 years now No problems!!!!
My Boat neighbor also has them a year longer No problems.

Way better and its nice to stop worrying about the Sherwood Crap ones!
Plus once you get the old one off you don't have to remove the engine mount anymore!

Have had them in for 1 year now and no problems. I bought the boat in Daytona and it had NEW sherwoods on it. Started leaking on the way up to New Bern, N.C. Called Tony and ordered them as Soon as we arrived here. Bi-#@ was getting the old sherwoods off as you have to remove an engine mount. Tony's sea max are in now and if any problems occur, they can now be taken off without removing the mounts. Great product and reasonable price.
