I know, I know, got the travel bug. I Might as well spend my money than watch it disappear in the stock market. I’ll be staying at the Intercontinental hotel in San Juan on Thursday, coming back Monday. Never been to P.R. before. Any suggestions?

Quiero comer La cuenta!

Cheers!

Old San Juan has some good eating places. Some local and some chain or chain-like but all fun.

Try Old Harbor Brewery if you have a chance. It has good steak and burgers and some great beers to try.

Have fun!

The bar at the Intercontinental Hotel in Puerto Rico is GORGEOUS! Fun place to hang out.

HAVE FUN!!!

I was there last week. The Old San Juan area is really nice to see...totally different than anything we have here in the continental US. Do a search online for the self guided walking tour of Old San Juan, and you can see everything in a day there. www.puertoricodaytrips.com
El Morro, the fort is quite impressive...worth the few dollars for the entry fee.

Save your money, and don't go to the rainforest, El Yunque. Since you and I live in Florida, you'll be unimpressed looking at hibiscus trees, palm trees, frogs, and the like. It'd be nice for someone from a different climate.

We only had 2 days to explore since we flew there to leave on our cruise, but it was a nice place to see, and we'll go back again for sure...to explore other areas of the island.

Oh, if you're interested, and it's still there OCTOPUS, Paul Allen's yacht was in port last week...hard to miss at 414' long! This is a pic from our balcony as we came in port.

get away from the tourist traps. Rent a car and drive around the coast a bit. You will find numerous fishing villages with the BEST local foods and incredible prices. Like $0.50 beers and $5 entrees that are big enough to split. Now, that is, of course, assuming you can speak Spanish or at least somebody with you can. That's how Amanda and I had the BEST time when there. Days in the compound (we stayed at Paradisus) were fun, but the real fun came with investigating the island on our own. But do NOT rent a motorcycle. There are major legal implications if something should go wrong, and they definitely drive crazy on those little 125cc bikes. Make sure you get to El Yunque (the rain forest) and hike up to the La Mina falls (waterfalls) and hike up to the top of El Yunque peak. SPECTACULAR!

If you wish you may call me @ 317 696 0764 cell. I've been going to P.R. for the past 50 years. Have a home on the south coast. Russ
