45' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1968 - 1975)
OK ... I know this is a Hatteras forum, but do any of you know about or have any experience with the old (not by Hatt standards) 30 Rybo Runners built by Rybovich in the mid 80s ? They were a stepped hull boat available in O/B or twin gas inboards or a single diesel. Anybody know about construction quality or the ride ?
thanks

fished on one out of grand isle louisiana once when i was a kid had twin omc sea drives she rode well it was a center console kind of like a ocean master. Not high performance by todays center console standards. hope this helps

all info helps .... thanks

helping a friend that is very interested in one
in exchange ... I'll get to spend a bunch of time on it in FLA when it's cold in NY

Is that hull one of the one's with holes along the side in the back. It is a pocket that fills with water when at rest then empties on plane???

Yes, some AVID fisherman friends of mine (2 brothers) had one. They powered it with twin old school carbureted 2-stroke Mercs, and it performed well. We ran out in the stream one night with what must have been 8' rollers, and I was truly astounded how well it rode for a boat that size. We were swording half the night, and it wasn't much more pleasant on the way in, but again, no probs. I wouldn't hesitate. Good looking boat, too.

This one is twin gas inboards (270 crusaders), that are staggered to fit 'em under the console. One of the downsides to this was the TOTAL lack of space to get to even a spark plug. It also needed a little TLC, but they are a real good looking boat, this one complete with Rybovich marlin tower and single spreader Rybo outriggers. But if it goes through for my friend, I'll get some Florida fish time on it right near where it was made. Could be worse.

I know of one in FL for sale with Yamaha's on it if he is Interested!

Please forward the info ....thanks

A friend of mine has one that he re powered with a 3116 (350 hp) Cat. It is not very fast with this power. The boat had sunk and had no power when he bought it. I think that it has sunk 2 times at the dock in the last 5 years. I think that the deck drains are the problem, any rough water runs in so he plugged his and relies on the bilge pumps to do the job. I think when they are repowered with the outboards they use a bracket with flotation foam to keep the drains above water. Good Luck
