  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' YACHT FISHERMAN (1970 - 1981)
How rude is it when you're anchored, and a fishing boat decides to come within a couple of feet of your boat and throw cast nets at your finely polished hull. Why do they think it's okay to come that close to an anchored motor yacht? Any thoughts or experiences of this? It's actually getting out of hand in an area that I do enjoy anchoring.

Legitimate complaint

Are their nets hitting your boat?

Maybe break out the shotgun and clay pigeons on the flybridge or fan tail.

I agree it's rude, but have you tired asking him not to throw nets in the direction of your boat, on the radio?

i anchored about 15 feet from a river bank near me, told the wife at least we dont have to worry about boats going between us and the shore.....sure enough a jet ski and then a party barge squeezed between us and the bank. they just had to get a close up of us enjoying ourselves

Your big blob of wood fiberglass and metal becomes a place for baitfish to hide under. The guy is just doing what any good fisherman would do. Unless he hits your boat with the net too bad. Don’t like it move somewhere else.

I took offense last summer at the tiki barge company cruising through our marina and calling me "one percenter". I contacted their company, got a rude response, contacted the FMPD and suddenly they stopped. May or may not be helpful, but local LE may be the best course.

You don’t mess with 1%ers

I thought a 1%'er was a bad motorcycle gang LOL.
